THE WHITE BEAR AREA SENIOR PROGRAM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:

MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY VOLUNTEER
Deliver meals to homebound residents of the White Bear Lake Area School District.  You can chose to delvier once a week, once every other week or be on-call to fill in as needed.  Meals are picked up around 11:15 am and delivered to 8 - 15 people.  Takes approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  See Debbie Walker in the Senior Program office or call her at 651.653.3123.

MEALS ON WHEELS COOK ASSISTANT
Assist the cook with packing food in carriers.  Volunteers needed Monday through Friday, 9:00 - 11:00 am.  See Debbie Walker in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3123.

FOOD CARE CLINIC RECEPTIONIST
Sign in customers when they arrive for their foot care appointment at the Senior Center on 4th or 5th Fridays of the month.  Times are 9:15 am - 3:15 pm.  You can take a split shift if this works best for you (9:15 am - Noon or 12:45 - 3:15pm)  See Jeanne Koeckeritz or Barb Green in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3121.

TRANSPORTATION ESCORT
Current needs for 1 or 2 very occasional volunteer(s) to ride along with clients on the Lionmobile to medical appointments. Volunteer(s) must have the physical ability to push a wheelchair.  Volunteer(s) will wait for the client and push her/him to lobby to wiat for Lionmobile.  See Jeanne Koeckeritz in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3122.

OFFICE AIDE
Answer phones, assist people when they come into the office and assist staff with various tasks as needed.  Current need is for volunteers who are available to work one day a week from 1:00 - 4:00pm.  See Jeanne Koeckeritz in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3122.

HISTORICIAL COMMITTEE
Display/Manage photos and newspaper articles on a quarterly basis within albums, scrapbooks etc.  See Jeanne Koeckertiz in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3122.

SENIOR CENTER CLEANING
Scrub tables, cupboard faces, appliances, etc., wash curtains, blinds etc.  Clean top of overheads, etc. in the office.  Cleaning would be done quarterly.  See Jeanne Koeckertiz in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3122.

SPRING CLEAN-UP
Provide yard clean up services to area seniors.  One hour or more in late April or early May.

INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAM
Work with student from pre-school to 8th graders.  Come in mornings or afternoons, from once a week to once a month or one time.  Help with reading, assisst in one of the learning centers or with art projects, help with homework, play a musical instrument, or share a lunch.  Also, you can "work from home".  See Janet Comer in the Senior Program office or call 651.653.3121.

"Open for Business:  Surviving and thriving during construction"
Jason's Bobby and Steve's Auto World, 7090 21st Ave - Lino Lakes
Businesses in Centerville, Lino Lakes and Hugo area are invited to attend this information workshop.  The workshop, sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Anoka Highway Department, will provide businesses with an overview of the removal and replacement of the County Road 14 bridge crossing Interstate 35E in Lino Lakes.  Guests also will receive practical tips and ideas to help their businesses survive and thrive during road construction.

Earth Day Clean-up of Hazelwood Park
Are looking for an opportunity for you or your employees to engage in a fun community service activity? Well, look no further. On Saturday, April 24th, Walker at Hazel Ridge will be celebrating Earth Day with a clean-up of Hazelwood Park and the grounds surrounding Walker at Hazel Ridge. This event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers will spend the morning cleaning up around the building, park, and pond, and end with a FREE lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. Come dressed for the weather and ready to work! Volunteers are asked to meet at the Hazel Ridge parking lot, located at 2730 Hazelwood Street between County Road C and Beam Avenue. We look forward to seeing you here!! Marketfest
Downtown White Bear Lake
Marketfest is a free summer festival in beautiful downtown White Bear Lake that runs Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, June 17 - July 29.  In its 19th year it continues to attract locals and visitors who are interested in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.
Each week two stages offer live concerts showcasing local bands from diverse musical genres including jazz, blues, rock, folk, country and funk.
The festival features children's games and activities, a petting zoo, pony rides, a farmer's market and a classic car show.  More than 150 vendors offer a wide variety of arts, crafts, merchandise, services and foods.  An estimated 4,000-5,000 people attend each Thursday.
